A case may not often be won in jury selection, but too often it is lost there.
All too often lawyers seat one or more jurors with whom they cannot win because the juror has an experience, a world view or a bias that was not discovered in voir dire.
After learning the facts, issues and dynamics of the case, Denise works with attorneys to determine the types of jurors that are desirable for that particular case, but more important, the types of jurors are potentially fatal to success at trial. She then develops voir dire questions designed to elicit thoughtful and candid responses from jurors.
Denise assists trial attorneys in court by sitting at counsel table, suggesting follow up questions, taking extensive notes on verbatim juror responses, and provides consultation regarding cause and peremptory challenges.
Once a jury is selected, she then consults with attorneys on fine tuning the trial strategy, so that the most compelling case is presented to that particular jury.
In the appropriate cases, Denise supports attorneys by developing supplemental jury questionnaires, addressing pretrial publicity issues, and litigation issues relating to jury selection conditions and procedures.
